Anthony Garcia, '25: Knox Psychology has not only taught me the importance of critical thinking and research, but also the value of community and collaboration. The experiences and lessons you gain here will shape both your personal and professional journey. The professors in the psychology department are the most dedicated and passionate professors I have ever met. They truly care and want to prepare you for after college and watch you succeed.
Alexa Custer, '25: The Knox Psychology Department prepares you for your time at Knox but also for your life after graduation. Navigating intense graduate programs and competitive workplaces feels much more doable and comfortable after practicing and refining your skills with a department that wants to see your growth and give you more depth in your experiences.
Daeun Kim, '26: At Knox, you are fully trained to become a researcher, medical professional, clinician, counselor, social worker, HR specialist, educator, or psychology expert. Whatever path you choose to explore, you’ll find yourself ahead of psychology students from many other colleges—something all the Knox psych graduates I’ve met agree on. Your freedom to take courses both within psychology and across other departments, along with opportunities for research and clinical terms, helps you develop into a well-rounded psychologist with both critical and creative thinking skills. Psychology is also regarded as one of the top STEM majors here. You can stop by the office anytime and feel free to ask questions. You’re likely to run into a psychology professor in the department building and can easily start a conversation—whether it’s about psychology or anything else on your mind! The deep connections you build with professors and fellow students, thanks to the small class sizes, create a strong sense of motivation to collaborate and challenge yourself.
Anna Cius, '25: I would encourage incoming students to join Knox Psychology because of the amazing professors and other peers in the department. Getting to know them and their areas of expertise shows their passion and importance within psychology.
Zach Shack, '25: The Psychology program at Knox College will show you what it will be like to have a career in psychology. They offer interactive classes to allow students to do their own research and study the topic they have been learning about in the field, and internships to receive irreplaceable hands on experience that allows you to help people in the Galesburg community. The main reason you will stay is the intelligent yet personable teacher who is excited to teach. You have the opportunity to work closely with the professors who will inevitably help you achieve your goals.
