Class Overview
In my class, from August to December, we focus on mastering literature standards in reading while working on a narrative piece of writing. We also work on learning to write proficient short and extended responses to literature. Students will learn to analyze characters, identify or explain the deeper meaning of figurative language, describe how the author's word choice affects the tone and mood of a story, and so much more!
Starting in January, we transition into reading more informational reading material while working on argumentative pieces of writing. Students will learn how to effectively use text evidence to support their reasoning and learn how to construct strong thesis statements, which are very important skills in higher education.
We will continue reading novels and practicing literacy skills in class as well.
I'm Ms. Sara Hall. I teach 7th and 8th grade Language Arts. I obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Alice Lloyd and a Master's Degree from Georgetown College, where I specialized in Literacy & Leadership. I have taught at Beaver Creek Elementary since 2013!
English was always my favorite subject in school, so I strive to inspire a love of reading, creativity for writing, and a passion for learning.
