Rover Scout

The Rover Scouting Badge Investiture Ceremony at the University of Kelaniya celebrated the achievements of Rover Scouts who successfully completed their advancement requirements and earned badges. This event reinforced the spirit of scouting by promoting personal growth, leadership, and skill development among university students. It served as a platform to recognize their dedication, inspire further participation in scouting activities, and strengthen the Rover movement within the university.In accordance with Rover Scouting traditions, the National Flag, University Flag, and Scout Flag were ceremoniously hoisted to mark the occasion. A total of 33 Rover Scouts were awarded badges during the ceremony.

The ceremony was graced by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished attendees included Senior Professor Dilkushi Wettewe, Director of the Career Guidance Unit; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Mr. Srilath de Silva, Assistant Chief Commissioner (Rover & IT) of the Sri Lanka Scout Association; Mr. V. G. Indika Prasanna, Assistant Headquarters Commissioner (Coordinator of the Universities Rover Scout) of the Sri Lanka Scout Association; Ms.Nirmala Chandani, Assistant Headquarters Commissioner, Mr. Buddhika Ravindra Wijesekera, Assistant District Commissioner at Wattala and Ja-ela.and Mr. K. A. M. Viraj Abeysinghe and Mrs. R. P. A. Minoon Perera, Career Counsellors of the University of Kelaniya

The University of Kelaniya Rover Crew successfully held its first-ever meeting on the 24th of October 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Cyber Ground of University of kelaniya. The event was led by Rover Scout Leaders Mr. Sampath Kariyawasam and Mr. Indika Prasanna, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the University's scouting community.

During the meeting, the crew appointed key positions, setting the foundation for future activities. Participants engaged in a variety of interactive sessions, including learning how to conduct an opening rally, playing team-building games, and mastering the art of the Rover yell. The event was designed to promote teamwork, leadership, and communication skills among the new members, all while creating a fun and inclusive environment.The first meeting provided a platform for students to connect with one another, fostering new friendships and developing essential soft skills that will benefit them in their academic and personal lives. The University of Kelaniya Rover Crew is expected to continue its growth, aiming to develop well-rounded individuals through its engaging programs and activities.
