Typical Mortar Ratios

The ratio of cement, lime, sand, and water depends on the application:

1. Cement Mortar:

   • Common mix ratio: 1:3 to 1:6 (Cement: Sand)

2. Lime Mortar:

   • Common mix ratio: 1:2 to 1:3 (Lime: Sand)

   • Used for historic restoration and structures requiring flexibility.

3. Cement-Lime Mortar:

   • Common mix ratio: 1:1:6 (Cement: Lime: Sand)

   • Provides a balance of workability, strength, and elasticity.
