This course is designed for students who are beginning to learn German. The focus of the course is language acquisition at the novice-low to novice-high proficiency levels. Classes are conducted in the language to meet the ACTFL standards of proficiency in the language.

Students will learn:

• common greetings, goodbyes, and polite expressions
• how to speak to adults differently as opposed to friends
• tell the time and date (learn months and days of the week)
• talk about their name, age, birthday, phone number, where the are from
• talk about school and sports, classes they take, supplies they have
• express likes and dislikes
• talk about family, describe themselves and others
• talk about food and what they like to eat

• To describe themselves, family members and friends (personality, hobbies and interests, clothes)
• Vacation ,travel, and transportation
• Talk about holidays, customs, and family gatherings (parties,food, going to a restaurant,)

PREREQUISITES: Completion of German 1.
