Welcome to "Professional Communications with Career Focus!" This is an activity based career development course in which students will develop an understanding of professional communications through exploration of career clusters. Students will explore a variety of career options and activities including formal and informal presentations, resume writing, and job interviewing. Students will exhibit public relations skills, leadership characteristics, knowledge of the global economy, and information technology applications.
Career Focus is a high school credit class, and includes a semester exam. Student wishing to complete the high school credit should be willing to initiate and pace their own projects, and should be comfortable with self direction. Career Focus uses project based learning, and therefore, students who are interested should be willing to create and present products to show mastery of skills learned in class. Career Focus is technology based as it is a CTE (Career and Technology) course, so basic computer skills are recommended.
