Restroom and Toileting

PreK is a great time to help your child learn to use the restroom independently. Practice how to button, zip and wipe independently. Click on the picture for a simple restroom procedure.
Tip: If zipping and button is difficult, elastic band pants/shorts are helpful until they master that skill.

Independent Work

Learning to be independent is a growing part for PreKers. Have your child practice sitting with focus to finish a product. Start with a 5-minute task and slowly increase the focus time to build stamina. Click on the picture for some great ideas on fine motor work.

Listening and Speaking

Encourage your little ones to focus while listening. Ask questions and have your child respond in complete sentences. Have your child share their thoughts to build language and communication. Click on the picture for some tips on how to communicating with your child.

Reading and Retelling

Sleep and Bedtime

Did you know preschoolers should sleep for about 10-13 hours? Without adequate sleep, your child's learning could be interrupted. Click the picture for more information. Family Engagement

Spend some time working with your child on various skills. These practices can be fun and meaningful for your child. Click the picture for some ideas or simply pull out a board game, deck of cards or a box of puzzles.

Healthy Eating

Eating healthy feeds not only the stomach, it also feeds the brain. Click on the picture for some tips or give a lesson on healthy eating.
Tip: Pack a healthy school lunch and practice opening all the containers and package independently.
