Other Fun Facts about Mrs. Mackey

I grew up in Sugarland, Texas. I have a younger brother (13 years younger) and an amazing sister. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and when we were little, I used to make my brother and sister sit down and listen to me as I taught them something new.

I went to college at Texas State University in San Marcos and loved spending time in the Texas Hill Country. I worked with many educational programs in college such as Head Start and Partners in Reading. I was even lucky enough to teach in Costa Rica in my own classroom.

My first year in teaching I was a resident teacher at Meadows Elementary ( MY old elementary school) and was able to teach alongside some of MY old teachers! I then journeyed to Mark Twain Elementary in HISD. After that, I spent 9 years as a METZLER HUSKY. Metzler students and staff helped shape me into the teacher that I am today!  And, now I am proud to be a FOX CUB!! I cannot wait to continue this journey! I am so excited to be teaching ART again at Fox Elementary!!!

I was also HONORED to be Metzler's 2016 Teacher of the Year AND Metzler's 2020 Teacher of the Year!! And then in 2022 I was Fox's Teacher of the year, KLEIN ISD's DISTRICT TEACHER OF THE YEAR and REGION 4 TEACHER OF THE YEAR!!
