Klein ISD is excited to announce our second "Girls in STEM" day on November 4, 2017. Klein ISD girls in grades 3-12 are invited to join us at Ulrich Intermediate School, 10103 Spring Cypress Road, Houston, TX 77070. The day will feature amazing speakers eager to share their enthusiasm about their fields in science, technology, and engineering. In addition to panel discussions for students in grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12, a highlight of the day will be the hands-on, activity-filled Exploration Room.

We are thrilled to announce our keynote speaker! Annette Moore is the Director of Information Resources and CIO of Johnson Space Center.

We are excited to add Spotlight Hours to the schedule. These informal sessions will be for the participants in grades 8-12 to ask more questions and talk to some of our speakers in a less formal setting. The Spotlight Hours will include College Life, Medicine and Engineering.

Parents are welcome too! Specific sessions will help parents learn more about college preparation for their daughters.

This event supports Klein's Promise2Purpose Vision and helps to close gaps that still exist in the STEM industry. Only 18.4% of engineering and 18% of the technology graduates in the United States are women. Women make up 25.8% of STEM workers in the United States, and the percentage is even lower at less than 10% for women in minority groups. Klein will be focusing on STEM at the Pathways and GT Conferences so all Klein students will have the opportunity to learn about STEM opportunities.
