YES! Passing BOTH the English 1 and English 2 EOC (End of Course) exams are required for graduation per State of TX Education Agency (TEA).
Who has to take the English STAAR/EOC test?
All students enrolled in English 1 (mostly Freshmen in 9th Grade) and English 2 (mostly Sophomores in 10th Grade) have to take the STAAR/EOC exams.
When is the English STAAR/EOC test?
April 25th - All students enrolled in English 1 (mostly Freshmen in 9th Grade) will take their exam
April 26th - All English 2 students (mostly Sophomores in 10th Grade) will take their exam
What is tested on the English STAAR/EOC exam?
The English EOC/STAAR tests students on their ELAR knowledge based upon the Texas Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), or Standards, which are broken into Readiness Standards and Supporting Standards.

These are the MUST-KNOW concepts. Readiness standards are the “most critical to assess” and are identified as skills essential to the course. Readiness standards make up approximately 55-75% of the overall exam.
