POETRY

April is officially Poetry Month, but you can enjoy poetry anytime!

See below for ideas about some of the different kinds of poetry and a cool website where you can create your own poems!

Haiku: Only 3 lines long, where the first and third lines have five syllables and the second has seven syllables (and it's Mrs. Landry's favorite)!

Acrostic: A form of poetry that uses the letters of a word to create the poem. The first word of each line starts with a letter from the main word. Click HERE to create an acrostic at ReadWriteThink.org

Free Verse: It does not any kind of pattern. Click HERE to create a free verse poem. You can use their word bank or type in the words that you want to use. The only limit is your creativity!

Here are some examples of poetry that Mrs. Landry wrote about her dog, Faith, to give you an idea of the different types.
