Name that Book is an exciting reading club at French Elementary and across Klein ISD.
Students in grades 3, 4, 5, who choose to participate can begin reading from the list of 20 books. These books have been specifically chosen by Klein librarians to reflect a variety of genres and topics - some are classics, some are newly published, and some have even won major children's literature awards. There are even some of this year's Bluebonnet nominee books.
If you are in grades 3, 4, or 5 and you are interested in participating in this year's Name That Book Competition, please sign up below. Shortly afterwards, you will be notified about our first meeting (during lunch and recess) where we will form teams of 8 people or less.
All students interested in participating will read from the entire list of books on their own and we will practice once a week during lunch/recess.
During the school day, at the beginning of December (in the morning), all teams will participate in a campus competition held in the French cafeteria to determine who will make up our final French team participating in the district competition. Parents and family members are invited to attend this campus competition.
Only the final French team (the team with the top score from the campus competition) will be competing in the district competition. The preliminary district competition will be after school on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. On February 4th, students will be in the French library virtually competing against other Klein schools on Zoom and parents/family members will be given a Google Meets link to watch virtually.
After the virtual competition, only the top elementary schools from each feeder pattern will be invited to the final district competition on Saturday, March 7, 2026, which will be located at Klein Oak High School. Parents and family members are invited to attend the final district competition in person.
If you are interested in participating, please make sure you are available for the two above dates and complete the sign up below. Students must sign up by October 1, 2025, in order to participate.
