USE THIS GUIDE TO ASSIST WITH YOUR CHALLENGE!
Work with your Teacher Sponsor to research and design a solution for the E-WASTE global issue.
Work to create your team's documentary Story Board to share with the expert Advisors for feedback.
Collect and keep with you field trip permission slip (English/Spanish ) and photo release form by November 9, 2022.
Sponsors must attend this day with their team.
You will continue to work, edit, and enhance your storyboard for review from the expert advisors and then take their advice and tips to continue to make your documentary the best it can be!
As part of the team's Day of Design product, be prepared to share how teamwork impacted the design process, how they came up with the design, and how you would market/communicate your documentary to the public.
Your storyboard will describe your solution to ERASE the E-WASTE.
Technology -- There is limited access to additional technology. Please ensure that you bring tablets, laptops, iPads, etc. for your students, if you feel they will be necessary. There is also limited power, so be sure that your devices are fully charged. You might want to bring a power strip with you.
Student and teacher cell phones are acceptable.
Materials: Due to our extraordinary school response to the challenge, all teams are limited to materials that will fit in a standard- size backpack.
Location: Klein Multipurpose Center - Your team will receive a room/table assignment upon checking in to the Day of Design event
Transportation: Your team will be notified of your Day of Design session time. We will have this information to you the week prior to the Day of Design
Lunch: Students attending the morning session will eat lunch upon return to campus.
Photo release / Field Trip permission -- Because we have so many students, all students must have a signed photo release on file. Please collect this form from your students and keep for your records. They will not be able to participate at the Day of Design if they do not have photo permission. Here are field trip permission forms (English/Spanish).
Take a team picture and tweet out with the #kleindayofdesign22 hashtag and post on social media.
Make a short video and send it to your principal telling him/her what you’re learning and showing them your excitement for the day!
Work on your project and collaborate with your project consultant and review their feedback on the Day of Design Rubric. Be sure to tweet out and post pics as you go. Be sure to check this website for updated information.
Complete the self-reflection form for each student. You will keep these to use as feedback for your team as you continue to work on the project.
Please write thank you notes to our expert advisors. (You have a few cards in your packet.) Be sure to write one to whoever worked with you today whether in person or virtually. You can turn these in at any time at the registration desk.
We would love to see a team video with answers to these questions:
What did you learn today?
Who did you talk to today? Make sure to include both your industry partner, as well as other schools.
What did you learn that changed or improved the design of your prototype?
How did you respond to expert advice?
Advisors: please fill out this Feedback Form as part of continuous improvement to help make events like these better next time!
You will have time to continue working on your documentary.
Expert Advisors -- We are continuing to gather advisors. We will have this list available by the Day of Design, and industry experts will be on hand at the KMPC to work with teams. You will be able to contact these experts after the Day of Design as well. An extremely important part of Profile of a Learner is being grateful and kind. This is a great opportunity for our students to interact with adults in our community, and we want to ensure that our students are showing gratitude for their participation. When contacting industry experts, it is extremely important for students to use proper email, phone, and video etiquette, and to send follow up thank you's.
