Description
In this XTEND component, you will be prepared for rigorous mathematics exploration including admissions tests and competition(s) designed to assess advanced problem-solving and mathematical reasoning beyond the standard curriculum.
STEP (Sixth Term Examination Paper)
TMUA (Test of Mathematics for University Admissions);
MAT (Mathematics Admissions Test); and
HIS KLJMC (Kuala Lumpur Junior Mathematics Competition)
Objective(s)
You will gain pure mathematics skills and be given an opportunity to
demonstrate deep analytical thinking logical reasoning.
Prerequisites:
You should be registered for Further Maths
You should have successfully completed the Additional Maths course
The ability to find a solution to a situation or challenge
The ability to set clear, tangible goals and devise a robust route to achieving them
KEY INFORMATION
KEY INFORMATION
TMUA consists of two 75-minute multiple-choice papers that evaluate pure mathematics skills and logical reasoning.
MAT and STEP are longer, more demanding examinations featuring both multiple-choice and extended-response questions, requiring students to demonstrate deep analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and essay-style explanations for advanced concepts.
You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded peers in developing and solving challenging problems, including contributing to the design of competition questions for the HIS KLJMC (Kuala Lumpur Junior Mathematics Competition)
