Expectations

Behavior Steps:

Students will have opportunities for positive rewards.  Both 3rd grade classes will be using a Positive Behavior chart, which will allow students opportunities to earn behavior points for earning rewards.  (Students will have a “Paw Pts/Rewards” space on the side of the front Whiteboard, and the teacher can put students name up on the whiteboard while teaching and during the school day add points to their Paw Points Chart).

The emphasis will be on earning positive points, for student to earn rewards and students will likely appreciate this system and rarely progress to Step 2 or Step 3 below.    + Tiger PAWs, Tiger Store, and Tiger Society  (Team Points & Class Points as well)

Step 1: Warning: Students will receive calm redirection and reminder of expected behavior for minor incidents. Students will be allowed 1 verbal warning/reminder.

Step 2: Student will receive an official warning. As a warning, their name will be listed under “Think About It” on the Whiteboard.  Students have the chance to attempt to turn their behavior around and possibly have their name removed.  If name stays up, the student will have a quick one on one conference with teacher at the beginning of a recess (owe a little of their time 5 minutes or less **). Depending on the behavior, student may be tasked with doing a quick write up reflection/response about the behavior.

Step 3: For minor behavior incidents, steps 1 and 2 will suffice.  Students usually “Think About It” and turn the behavior around.  Step 3 students will have a check mark next to their name on the board.  This will be the 3rd chance and students will receive a “Minor Incident Report” 1 incident.  Details about numbers of incidents progressing on the Minor Incidents and future steps, can be explained by messaging teacher on ParentSquare, and is also outlined in the Kit Carson 2023-2024 Parent/Student Handbook (on the School Website).  When students receive a Minor Incident Reported, parent contact will be made via ParentSquare, phone call, or email.

Parent Contact / Teacher Contact will be made using ParentSquare - Easy, free download and sign up parent/teacher school messaging App (downloadable on Android and iOS, or usable on computer or tablet).  Please ask the School Front Office if you have any questions about how to sign up!
