Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we bring this academic year to a close, I want to extend my gratitude to each of you for your support and contributions to the KISU community. It is with great pride and pleasure that I share some wonderful news: KISU has just been re-accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB). The feedback from the IB was incredibly positive, with the report stating:
"KISU embodies the IB philosophy through its clear mission and vision, supported by the leadership team and staff. The school’s inclusive environment, characterized by a diverse student body and a commitment to community involvement, highlights its dedication to educational equity and access. The professional development of staff is robust, ensuring that educators are well-equipped to deliver high-quality IB education."
Today marks the beginning of our exciting Summer Camp, and we are thrilled to see a significant number of students joining one of the three age groups. The programme promises to be enriching and full of engaging activities. For more information, please see the flyer below or call 0752 711 891.
Looking ahead, please note that the new academic year begins on Monday, 19th August 2024. Over the summer, our facilities will receive the usual refresh, and we are pleased to announce upgrades to our wifi system and the installation of a pool heater.
We encourage parents of students from Year 4 to DP2 to consider sending their child to school with a laptop or a tablet. We are committed to using technology to enhance learning, ensuring that devices are utilised only when they make a significant difference. Our policy on technology use can be found here.
A gentle reminder of our zero-tolerance approach to cell phones in school, a policy grounded in sound research about the impact of mobile phones and social media on wellbeing and academic performance. You can view the policy here.
Next year, we will be joined by some very experienced new educators. Each has been through a rigorous selection process, and I am confident we will see lots of exciting new approaches to teaching in our classrooms. We will host a 'Meet the Team' event early in Term 1 of the new academic year.
As we part for the summer break, I wish every member of the KISU community a safe and relaxing holiday. I am deeply thankful to everyone who helped make my first year at KISU so memorable. Your support and dedication have been truly inspiring.
Warm regards,
Lee Wilson
School Director
