Teaching and Supervision

Short points from my teaching philosophy

It is a place to talk about teaching some topic for years at The Faculty of Engineering/Sulaimani University and at The Faculty of Engineering/ London South Bank University.

The modules give me a massive interesting in teaching and following the outputs when I take the level of students knowledge of civil engineering to a wider skills and experiences as they need to work with these material in an early days of their carrier.

The courses I taught seemed to go well and I have prepared course notes, set assignments, tutored students, marked their work and exam papers.

I have a good contact with my students in terms of availability for their inquiries through surgery hours and have replied to their emails continuously and in a short time.

I always asked them individually about the quality of the class teaching, handouts and understanding of the subjects and I made improvements according to their suggestions.

The Feedback forms by the students show the courses went well and acknowledge my efforts in addition to their valuable comments and suggestions for future.

In the units I teach I am constantly updating the notes and also introducing new books and assessing and acquiring new software.

The students I have studied with at LSBU, and those I have taught come from a wide variety of backgrounds and I have always enjoyed it and see diversity as a very positive feature of LSBU.

I am strongly believe that everyone should be given an opportunity to achieve their best.

- I respond to student's email very quickly with sufficient advice or an appointment.

- I encourage all students generally about their futures as engineers in the class and individually.

- I encourage them to not hesitate or be embarrassed about the quality of their questions in my subjects.

- I give everyone the same importance in teaching and advising.

I work well in a team, speak openly what I think, listen to others and have respect for my colleagues and students. My strength is that I always try to find a solution, rather than complain about the problems. I take responsibility for solving problems.
