William Simpson

William Simpson was a part of the U.S. Marine Corps. His rank was a captain, and his service number is 026126, unit was HQ SQ 33 MAR AIR GP. He was born on April 8, 1920 and died September 16, 1950. Captain Simpson was the pilot of a F4U-4B Corsair fighter with Headquarters Squadron, 33rd Marine Air Group aboard an aircraft carrier. On September 16, 1950, while on a combat mission of attacking enemy tanks near Inchon, Korea, his aircraft struck the ground which is what killed him. 

Simpson was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
