William F. Goldstrom

William F. Goldstrom served as a U.S Army Medic at the age of 21 in the Korean War from 1953-1954. Being born on August 19th, 1932 to his mother and father Harry and Viola John Goldstrom in Vandergrift Pa. As a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vandergrift, he was a volunteer firefighter serving as chief of special services. William also owned Goldstrom Tire Shop in Vandergrift being the civil defense chief. One of his many accomplishments was being a recipient of the Carnegie hero Medal. This medal is the highest civilian award given to those who perform extraordinary acts of heroism. William had two sisters, two sons and many other family members that loved him dearly.  He was married to Marilyn which preceded him in death age 81  on May 26, 2014 at the university Medical Center in Las Vegas. He was then brought back and buried in Vandergrift Cemetery.
