Elmo J. Walter Jr., 84, of Homosassa, Fla., formerly of Vandergrift, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville, Fla. Born April 10, 1930, in Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Elmo and Elizabeth (Murphy) Walter. Elmo had owned and operated Walter Optical Lab in Vandergrift for 38 years prior to retiring in 1991. He served in the Korean War as a private in the Army. He was a member of the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church and a member of the F and AM Lodge No. 617 and the American Legion Post No. 114, both in Vandergrift, and he enjoyed golfing.
