Emil J. Urik

Emil "Moe" Urik, 80, of Vandergrift, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in his residence. He was born May 14, 1933, in North Vandergrift, son of the late Frank and Veronica Gallovich Urik. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army. Emil was employed by GTE Telephone as a lineman, prior to retiring in 1991, after 35 years of employment. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in East Vandergrift and the Parks Township Slovak Club. He enjoyed gardening, boating, playing cards, seafood - especially hard-shell crabs - and watching Pirates baseball. He is survived by his son, Chris Urik, of Harmer Township; and two sisters, Anna Marie (Dick) Bumsted, of Maryland, and Alice Jenkins, of Oregon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Gaye Dodson Urik; four sisters; and five brothers.
