Anthony W. Scoccimerra,

Anthony William Scoccimerra was born on April 20, 1925 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. His parents were named Rose (Petrarca) and Sebastian Scoccimerra. His only sibling was his sister, Adeline Paola. His first wife was named Teresa (Zboran) Scoccimerra, however she passed away in 1991. His child, April Patricia Scoccimerra, passed away as an infant. Anthony remarried to Virginia M. (Fasano) Scoccimerra in 1994. He had a daughter named Angela R. Smith with Virginia. Anthony grew up in Manor Township and graduated from Vandergrift High School. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II. The coast guard is a branch of the US armed forces, under the Department of Transportation since 1967, responsible for the enforcement of maritime law and for the protection of life and property at sea. In time of war, or at the direction of the president, the Coast Guard serves as part of the US Navy. After his service in the war, he worked in Ford City for over thirty years. There, he worked as a foreman for PPG and then owned and operated Scotty’s Restaurant and Bar. He retired in the early 1980’s. Anthony Scoccimerra passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the age of 89.
