Ronald W. Doverspike 

Born on June 27, 1926 in Vandergrift, PA, Seaman Ronald Wayne Doverspike served in the United States Navy from February 5, 1944 to May 6, 1946.


Ronald enlisted in the Navy when he was 18 years old. He served in Naples, Italy with the “US Navy Film Exchange” at the headquarters for the US Navy in the Mediterranean Sea.  He then served in Northern Africa during World War II when he was honorably discharged when he was 20 years old in Bainbridge, Maryland.


Ronald graduated from Vandergrift High School.  After his military service he married his wife of 57 years, Ila Wood Doverspike and had three daughters and lived in Apollo, PA.  He was the owner of Doverspike Auto Parts until 1989 and during later years he was a maintenance manager at the Country Manor Motel in Apollo.
