Paradise, Leonard D.

Leonard D Paradise was born on June 17, 1923, and was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella Paradiso.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Paradise. Survivors include his wife, Dolores M. (Tedesco) Paradise, of Apollo; three sons, Frank (Sharon) Paradise, of Verona, Rick Paradise, of Glenshaw, and Anthony (Tracy) Paradise, of Leechburg; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Salvatore (Dolores) Paradise, of Florida, and Joseph (Marlene) Paradise, of Penn Hills; three sisters, Mary Longord, of Florida, Madelene "Dolly" Lewis, of California, and Grace (Andrew) Tignanelli, of New Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.

Leonard Paradise served in World War II as an infantryman during the invasion of Normandy, and received a Purple Heart from being shot in his shoulder. He served the Army during the times of 1939-1946. He fought on the frontlines and also received more medals from dragging others to safety. He enlisted when he was 20 years old and stayed in the army for 5 years. His army number is 33420480.

Leonard died on  March 19, 2012, in the VA Butler Healthcare, Butler, he was 88. He was a graduate of Peabody High School in Pittsburgh, member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo, the Plum American Legion Post No. 980 and the former Sons of Italy Club in Vandergrift. Leonard enjoyed watching western movies on television, going to church, spending time with his grandchildren and loved the family Sunday dinners.
