Melvin R. Brickner

Melvin Roy Brickner Jr. was born on May 6, 1922, in Leechburg Pennsylvania. Brickner joined the United States Army with an educational level of grammar school, a height of 65 inches, and weighed 152 pounds. At age 20, he was a Private First Class in the Branch Immaterial or General Officers branch of the Selectees during World War II and was eventually promoted to sergeant. Brickner worked at a Ford Garage in Leechburg for many years after his deployment and was a coal miner for Hick’s Coal Mine and retired in 1993. He lived in Leechburg until moving to Derry Township 30 years ago. Brickner has two sisters, May Trozzi of Vandergrift and Gladys Rarie of Leechburg. He was married to Marie Becker Brickner, and his parents were Melvin Roy Sr. and Catherine George Brickner. Melvin Roy Brickner Jr. passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2003 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Gilpin, Pennsylvania.
