Marshall A. George

Marshall A. George is remembered for his sacrifices in the United States Army during the Korean War.  George was born on June 11, 1931 to Malcolm and Nelle George in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania.  He attended Vandergrift High School and graduated, then continued on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Clarion College.  He was a member of the United States Army during the Korean War, serving in the Honor Guard.  After the war, he received his Master’s Degree and Principal Papers from Duquesne University, and studied administration at West Virginia University.  He was actively involved in his church, the Westminster Presbyterian Church, as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and a choir member.  He retired from his role as principal of Hempfield Area High School in 1990.  He is survived by his wife Beverly Otto George, with whom he had a son and two daughters; eight grandchildren, a brother, and a sister.
