John Marinelli was known for his courageous actions during World War II. Marinelli was born on June 17, 1921 in Edri. His parents were Ranieri and Gelsomina Marinelli. John had two brothers and two sisters. Marinelli completed four full years of high school and received his high school diploma. He was a resident of Avonmore before he decided to move to Illinois. Marinelli passed away on March 3, 2004 in Aurora at the age of 83. He was buried in the West View Cemetery in Avonmore. John Marinelli was happily married to Gemma (Barbieri) Marinelli. Together, they had one son and two daughters. John Marinelli participated in World War II. Before Marinelli retired, he was a coal miner at Brownstone Mine.
