Leonard C. Kinkead



Sergeant Leonard Clair Kinkead was born on March 23, 1890 in Livermore Pennsylvania. Leonard’s parents were William and Mary Kinkead. The father passed away but the mother lived in Vandergrift, Pa with Leonard. His hometown was Vandergrift Pa, where he married one of his wives Irma Reichenbaugh Kinkead Kennedy. Leonard was inducted into the United States Army when he was 27 years old on September 18, 1917. He was deployed to Chamonix, France. During the war Leonard Kinkead started out being just a Private in Sept 18/17. As the time went on when he was in war this position led to being a private lieutenant in December 1/17, which also led to a sergeant in June 28/10, then to his final position as a Mess sergeant in July 16/18. During his years in the Army, Sergeant Leonard was a very helpful Sergeant. He later died from influenza and his deployment status ended On March 14 1919 when he had passed in Service. After he passed he was brought back to his hometown Vandergrift Pa to have a burial for him at the Vandergrift Cemetery on June 1, 1921.
