Walter L. Kulczycki
Walter Kulczycki was born on July 9, 1928. At 20 years of age he enlisted for the Air Force in July 1948. Once enlisted, he remained in the US until 1951 when he and the 27th Fighter Escort Wing were sent to Kunsan Air Force Base in South Korea. Here he spent 9 months as a Welfare Specialist, a job in which consisted of telling families of those who had lost someone in combat about benefits supplied by the Air Force. After those 9 months his company was reassigned Bergstrom Air Force Base in Travis County, Texas. On his return he was discharged in July of 1952 completing 4 years in service. Once home, he attended business school and was hired at PPG where he worked for 37 years, retiring September 3, 1993.
