Kenneth W. Slaeker

Lt. Col. Kenneth Slaeker was born on April 14, 1920 in Elderton, Pa. He attended and graduated Vandergrift high school; in 1938. Kenneth started his flying career after graduating USAAC Flying Cadets on July 26, 1942. During World War II he and his crew were assigned to North Africa and many other locations. He completed 50 missions as aircraft commander from February 1943 to August 1943. After his service in World War II Kenneth also participated in the Berlin Airlift. In addition after the war Kenneth received his bachelor’s degree from Washburn University and a master’s degree from USC. Kenneth passed away at the age of 91 on August 27, 2011.
