Joseph John Kasecky

(1930-2007)

Joseph J. Kasecky was born on October 26, 1930 in North Vandergrift to the late John and Mary (Gronsky) Kasecky.  He was raised in Vandergrift with three sisters; Helena, Mary, and Angeline Kasecky.  After his 1948 graduation from Vandergrift High School, 20-year-old Kasecky joined and served in the United States Air force as a radar technician during the Korean War.  

Kasecky was stationed in several locations, including Okinawa, Japan, and Great Falls, Montana, where he met his wife of 51 years, Marian Fletcher of Ortonville, Montana, at a USO dance.  He later obtained the rank staff sergeant during his service.  Overall, Joseph Kasecky served from March 1951- January 1955.

After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Kasecky attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated in the June of 1958 with a degree in electrical engineering.

Joseph Kasecky married Mirian Fletcher in 1955 and settled in the Alle-Kiski Valley.  Together they raised three children, Pam, Jennifer, and Michael Kasecky. 

From his duration in school until his retirement from the position of chief electrical engineer in 1997, Joseph Kasecky worked for Allegheny Ludlum.  After retirement, Kasecky worked part-time as a cost estimator for Just-Mark Construction.  He was a member of VFW Post 92 and AIST Pittsburgh District Section and technical committees, as well as a devoted member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church.  During his life, Kasecky enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family.  

On April 29, 2007, Joseph J. Kasecky passed away at the age of 76 after a long battle with leiomyosarcoma. He is survived by his wife, two sisters, children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
