John S. Bafik

John S. Bafik will forever be greatly recognized for his participation in World War II. Mr. Bafik was born on August 4th, 1922 and passed away on June 3, 2012 in Lower Burrell. His parents were Mike and Anna Bafik. He had one brother and one sister.  John was born in Mammoth which is located in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania. John attended high school and finished with four full years of education. John worked as an operator of Gas Line #5 for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation. He obtained this job until 1983, he kept this job for 38 years.   When Mr. Bafik enlisted for the United States Army, the date was recognized as October 16, 1942, he was 22. He was enlisted for the full time of the war plus 6 months. Mr. Bafik was noted to be a private during World War II. He was included in the Air Corps branch of the Army of the United States.  John Bafik was married to Martha J. (Ashbaugh) for almost 66 years. Together they had two sons. Their names were Dan J. Bafik and David M. Bafik.  Mr. Bafik was known to put American flags on roadways and on veterans graves during the holidays.
