John Gais

Private John Gais is remembered for honorably serving in World War I.  Mr. Gais was born on May 9, 1888 in Vialfre, Citta Metropolitana di Torino Piemonte, Italy.  Born to Domenico Gais and Maria Dighera.  He moved to the United States, became a United States naturalized citizen, and lived in and around Vandergrift, Pennsylvania.  He married Mary Bissacca Gais. As Mr. Gais served in the US Army, he was assigned to Co E, 320th Infantry.  Private Gais participated in the Meuse Argonne, Somme, and St Mihiel offensives overseas in France.  He was honorably discharged from the US Army in Canton, Ohio.  Private John Gais served in the United States Army from September 1917 to June 1919.  John Gais died on August 7, 1961, at the age of 73 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States of America due to bronchial pneumonia.  He is buried at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States of America.
