John Esposito

John Esposito was born on January 15th, 1928 and lived on 419 Lowell Street until he was 18. He dropped out of school then left home and enlisted into the Army in 1946 and was sent to Fort Campbell, Kentucky for basic training.  He was placed into the 25th Army Division. After his enlistment, he was stationed in Japan for a period of time.  Once the Korean War had begun, he was stationed in Inchon, Korea and saw active combat while participating in the Battle of Inchon.  Later on in his service, he participated in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir along with Turkish soldiers.  Although he was not severely wounded, he did receive an injury that sent him to the infirmary for a time.  After serving 3 tours, he resigned and was officially discharged in 1952.  After he left, he lived in California for around a  year or more before returning to Vandergrift.  He died on February 24th, 2009 at the age of 81.
