Janet K Smith

Janet K Smith was born on December 2, 1916 and died on January 17, 2001.  Janet liked to help people, but she never thought about going to the army.  Her parents told her that it was a bad choice and that she should stay home and raise a family.  Janet did not listen to her parents and decided to join the army just after her 22nd birthday.  She was a medic in the army.  She had to help people with gunshot wounds and trauma on the front lines. This was a very hard and grueling job at the time because disease killed more than gunshots.  She is credited with saving over 400+ lives of soldiers.  She managed to survive the war even with all of the deaths that the war caused.  She entered the war when she was only 22 years old and left when the war ended in 1945, she was 29 years old.  After the war she married Bryan J Smith and had 4 children.  They lived in New York, which was also her birth place.  Her family was very successful, all 4 of her kids went on to college and she lived in a very nice home.  Janet K Smith died on January 17, 2001 and her husband died shortly after on March 23, 2001.
