Howard McManus
Howard McManus was born on October 11, 1927 and was a World War II veteran who served in the United States Navy on the USS Leyte. He graduated from Vale Technical Institute in Blairsville and was employed in the sewing industry as a mechanic. Mr. McManus was employed by Reidbord Bros. in Washington Township and later by Westland Mfg Co. in in Greensburg and Jenspor Mfg in New Kensington. He retired in 1989. While living in Vandergrift, Mr. McManus was a member of the Vandergrift Church of God, where he was a singer in the choir, and served on the board of trustees. He loved using his mechanic skills to repair people’s machinery. Mr. McManus enjoyed spending time with his wife and cat. He had a daughter, two sons, and seven grandchildren. He passed away October 20, 2004.
