Frank J. Zubal

Frank J. Zubal was born on March 10, 1923 in Vandergrift Pennsylvania. Frank was the son of Joseph and Eva Zubal. Frank’s hometown was Allegheny Township. He was a member of Allegheny Presbyterian Church in Leechburg. When Frank was 20 he started to become a Marine on January 22, 1943. He was deployed to Paris Island, South Carolina, then went to Europe to fight. Frank served in the Marines as a Pvt. He was in First Class in World War II serving in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Westpoint. Frank discharged as a Marine on February 1, 1946. After his service with his country he worked for Freeport Telephone Co. and North Pittsburgh Telephone Co. in Gibsona. He worked for 35 years then retired in 1988. Frank was married to his wife Alice Joann (Clark) Zubal for 53 years. Frank’s daughter is Jane Ann Woitas, and his son is Frank R. Zubal.  He also had four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He also loved spending time working on his family farm. He later died at the age of 86 on October 4, 2009.  We will forever be in debt to him for his great sacrifice to serving for the United States in World War II.
