Francis A. Silvestri

Francis A. "Chich" Silvestri, 83, of Morrisville, Pa., was born March 3, 1919 in Modeen, Pa. He died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at his home. He was buried in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery Yardley, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Mr. Silvestri grew up in Vandergrift, Pa., where most of his brothers and sister remained. He and his wife have been a resident of Morrisville since 1953. Mr. Silvestri worked at the U.S. Steel in Vandergrift from 1935 to 1953, when he moved to U.S.S. in Fairless Hills Works retiring in 1977. He was also a member of United Steelworkers Local 4889. 

He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and was stationed in Pearl Harbor during the attack on December 7, 1941. He received a Good Conduct Metal, American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star and an Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. 

He was the son of the late Nicola and Rosina Carrucci Silvestri, brother of the late Pearl, William, Anthony, Frank, Joseph and Dominick, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Domenica Andreo Silvestri; two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Ann Silvestri of Newtown, Pa., Roseanne Silvestri and her husband Robert M. Lucas, DDS, MD, PhD, of Elkins Park; one granddaughter, Nicole Victoria Lucas, daughter of Roseanne and Robert; three sisters, Mary Cuica and Grace Curtis both of Vandergrift and Jean Freilino, of Leechburg.
