Floyd C. Lambing

Private Floyd C. Lambing served in the United States Army with the 320 infantry regiment 80th Division Company A. The motto of the 80th division is "Always move forward”. He was born on November 11th 1888 in Salina, Pennsylvania. He lived in Apollo PA, and worked at the Hicks Coal Company before he was drafted. When he was drafted into the Army, he went to Camp Lee Virginia to receive his training. He was deployed on June 5th 1917 when he was 28 years old as  an infantry soldier. While he was station in Nantillois France, his company was pulled back, he went forward through friendly and enemy fire to advance to a post and directed the occupants to safety, he was killed during this act. Private Lambing was buried in Meuse - Argonne France. For his actions he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. It was Posthumously awarded to his mother Mrs. Frank J Lambing.
