Eugene Summerville is the son of Joe and Pearl summerville, he is the youngest of his sister Joan and brother Jack, the family resided in Vandergrift which is also where he currently resides. In 1950 Summerville graduated from Vandergrift High School. In 1953 Summerville was drafted into the Korean war at the age of 21 nearly 3 years after the war began. Mr. Summerville began his time in the war as an army gunner which is a military personnel member who operates an infantry support weapon. He ended his time in war as a Tank driver, his service branch was the Armor Division 2322TK PAT. During war Mr. Summerville developed many relationships, most memorable was his friends from Alabama, years after the war they kept in touch and met up with one another many times up to 40 years later.
