Edwin P. Love

Edwin P. Love was born on October 12, 1920. A lifelong resident of Vandergrift PA, he served his country honorably in World War II. He was an ensign of the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Love was in his early twenties when entered the armed services. During his time spent in the Navy his travels took him to Hawaii, Alaska, Rhode Island, and ultimately to combat in the Pacific. He never talked much of the war, but carried out his duty to his country and returned safely to his family. He was extremely eager to come home to see his young son Gary E. Love, and wife Lillian I. Love. In civilian life he worked as a plumber for Pinto Plumbing and frequently sat on his porch listening to Bob Prince broadcast the Pirate games on the radio. He also loved watching his son Gary play baseball, football, and the trumpet. Later in life, he became a wonderful grandfather to Shawn M. Love and Scott A. Love. Edwin passed away on February 3, 1985 but his memory lives on through photos and his family.
