Corbett E. Elkin 

Corbett Eugene Elkin was born on July 7, 1931 in Armstrong County. He lived in and around Vandergrift his whole life. Mr. Elkin was the son of George Earl and Helen (Barnett) Elkin. He had three brothers, William, Kenneth, and Richard. Mr. Elkin was very active throughout high school. He was very involved with sports and the local Pittsburgh sports teams as well. Corbett graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1950. He then went on as a seaman in the Navy. Mr. Elkin was discharged in 1956 after support role in the Mediterranean Sea. He then was employed by the US Steel Plant. He was mainly a chemical metallurgist technician in the Vandergrift plant for more than 37 years. After he retired from the US Steel plant he went on to be a security guard for 8 years, at the Cauley Detective Agency.  Mr. Elkin was happily married to Dorothy (Lasher) Elkin for more than 58 years. They had a son, David, and two daughters, Tamara and Brenda, who all married and gave Corbett and Dorothy 4 grandchildren. Mr. Elkin was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church in Vandergrift. After a long happy life, 84 year old Corbett Eugene Elkin passed away peacefully on October 30, 2015. Corbett is layed to rest at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell.
