Melvin E. Hancock

Melvin Eugene Hancock was born to Thomas and Bertha Hancock on July 27, 1915 and had two siblings named William and Bessie.  They lived in Washington Township and had an Apollo address. Melvin lived in his childhood home until 1940 and was pursuing an education to have a successful career as a laborer at the Steel Mill.  Melvin stood 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed approximately 170 pounds. He married Viola McKendree and had a job working for Bloomer Construction.

Later in 1940 Melvin enlisted in the Army, listing Baxter Road as his address in Armstrong County.   During his time of service Melvin became a Technical Sergeant. He served in the army until January of 1946 when he separated from service in Fort Knox, KY and then moved to Apollo, Pennsylvania, living with Viola. 

After a few years they moved to Maricopa, Arizona.  Melvin lived until June 25, 1990.
