John J. Collins*

John James Collins born February 21st, 1946 was a peaceful and simple man. Mr. Collins loved thy neighbor, and was a man of whit. He lived an ordinary childhood in Vandergrift, PA. Mr. Collins enjoyed playing touch football, and softball with all of his neighbors and close friends. He loved every one, making sure they knew that too he told them every once in a while. Mr. Collins was full of love, and believe in absolute sacrifice to save a life. With rumors of war in the air Mr. Collins signed his name on the dotted line and went to war. Mr. Collins started his tour on May 19th 1967. John J. Collins fought in the Vietnam War and made the ultimate sacrifice for his country, his neighbor, and his brothers of war. He served as an infantryman in the United States Army. He was in the 4th Infantry Division. Mr. Collins died in the South Vietnam city of Kontum on November 11, 1967. He died at the age of 22.
