Benjamin F, Lear M.D.

Benjamin Lear was born to Isaac and Esther Lear on September 2, 1912. He had three siblings: Twila, Robert, and Gladys Lear. Lear graduated from Vandergrift High School. He was in the U.S. Navy in World War II, as a Lt. Commander.  As well as being in the navy, Lear also graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh’s Medical School. Lear practiced medicine for 51 years at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, and was the original physician at the Kiski Valley Baby Well Clinic. He was also employed at West Haven Nursing Home as the medical director. He was a member of American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Armstrong Medical Society.  Benjamin Lear was also an honorary member of the George G McMurtry Fire Department in Vandergrift. He married Dorothy Lear and had six children.
