Stephen R. Blanciak

Stephen Blanciak was born on May 4, 1922 to Ukraine born parents Frank and Anna Evenochka. He grew up in North Vandergrift in a hectic household with 5 siblings: Walter, Steven, and Elenor were the only  biological siblings he had, Julia Noski and Mitchel Evenochka were step-siblings. Blanciak died on May 26, 1985, and was buried in the Saint Gertrude Memorial Cemetery in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. 

Stephen joined the military during WWII and was part of the Navy. He was a storekeeper, second class petty officer in a construction battalion throughout his time in the military. He served for over three years, from March 27, 1943, to May 17, 1946. He was awarded several awards for his courageous efforts including: Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, for carrying out 3 consecutive years of honorable service, and American Theater Ribbon as well as a Victory Medal.
