Leslie A. Stoughton

Leslie Andrew Stoughton Sr. was born on August 23, 1925 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania. He lived with his parents Floyd and Margaret Stoughton until he enlisted into the navy on September 27, 1943.Stoughton was 18 years old when he enlisted into the navy. His rank in the Navy was a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class. He helped to preventing injury and disease in the war. Leslie Andrew Stoughton Sr. was part of  U.S.S. LST 720 and U.S.S. LST 807 during his time in the navy. Stoughton battled in the Pacific Theater when the Allies took on the Japanese. Leslie Stoughton was in the navy for three years, he was discharged on June 13, 1946. After his time in the navy Stoughton worked as a metallurgist for Titanium Metals Corporation of America and Allegheny Ludlum in Leechburg. He helped develop the titanium alloy that was used in the Mercury Spacecraft and U2 spy plane. Stoughton retired from being a metallurgist on December 31, 1985. Stoughton enjoyed woodworking, photography, gardening, and spending time with his large family. Lesli Andrew Stoughton Sr. died February 16, 2016 at the age of 90. Stoughton earned a number of award during his heroic efforts in the war, which consist of  Asia Pacific Campaign Medal, American Medal Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal. 

Leslie Andrew Stoughton will forever be remembered for his heroic efforts in World War II for saving soldiers lives, but also for protecting the United States of America.
