Leonard M. Lattanzi

Leonard was born on on February 10th, 1928 in Vandergrift Pennsylvania to the late John and Mary Lattanzi. He enlisted in the Navy on February 4th, 1946 and retired December 5th, 1947 and was in World War II. His rank was S 2/c, and the awards he won were Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal. He was an operator on the continuous finishing line and was also a temporary foreman for a short period of time with U.S. Steel Irvin Works in McKeesport for a total of 43 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift; Vandergrift No. 2 Fire Department; Western PA Firemen's Association; Vandergrift VFW; former Sons of Italy, Vandergrift; and the Vandergrift Golf Course. Leonard's favorite pastime was golfing with his best friend, Tony C., and going to get coffee. He enjoyed fly fishing for steelhead, going out to eat, and hunting at Three Pine camp in Ridgway, Pa. Leonard had four kids, one girl and three boys, eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandkids, seven great great grandchildren, and one sister.  He died on Friday, June, 29 2012 at Allegheny Valley hospital, Natrona Heights PA.
