James L. Cherre was born on August 29th, 1916 in Vandergrift Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. Mr. Cherre was a white male who attended Vandergift High School. He then was drafted into the army on October 11th, 1939 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He served in the USASC which is the United States Army Signal Corps. This paricular branch develops, tests, provides, and manages communications and information systems support for the command and control of combined armed forces. James Cherre was in service at the time the Selective Service Act went into effect. He served in foreign service from July 11th, 1943 to October 22. He was separated from active service on December 21st, 1944 in Fort Dix., N.J. Mr. Cherre then resided in San Jose Santa- Clara, California. He passed away at this particular residence on January 22nd, 1966 at the age of 50.  He is buried in Alta Mesa Memorial Park.
