Earl M. Stitt

Earl Mark Stitt was born March 6th, 1922 to Arthur P. Stitt and Marble Stitt. Earl grew up in Vandergrift Pennsylvania and graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1940. He enlisted into the Coast Guard at the age of 22. On February 1st, 1945 Stitt boarded the U.S.S Albuquerque, the boat set course to Ketchikan, Alaska and arrived February 2nd, 1945. Stitt was a second class Store Keeper. His job was to keep track of all inventory and he handled all logistical functions. After 8 months Stitt was discharged on October 29th, 1945. He came back to Pennsylvania and married Jean Lois Stitt and had two children. They moved to Silver Springs, Maryland where he would live out the rest of his life and pass away January 14th, 2007.
